How does ThankTap work?
A guest loads a ThankTap balance with Apple Pay or Google Pay, opens the ThankTap app, chooses an amount and holds their phone to the staff member's ThankTap NFC tag. The tip settles immediately and both sides receive an itemized confirmation.
What problem does ThankTap solve?
Guests rarely carry cash, so tips for staff who work away from a payment terminal simply never happen and never appear as data. ThankTap recovers those gratuities and makes them measurable.
How much does ThankTap cost?
Hotels and staff pay nothing. Guests pay the tip plus a transparent 20% ThankTap service fee, shown before they confirm.
Do staff really keep 100% of the tip?
Yes. A displayed $20 is a $20 gratuity to the staff member or their disclosed pool. ThankTap never deducts fees from a tip and never charges staff for hardware, replacements or payouts.
How is ThankTap different from other tipping apps?
ThankTap is funded entirely by a guest-paid fee rather than deductions from workers, provides NFC hardware free, gives hotels finance-grade reconciliation and payroll export, and adds an AI Smart Tip Engine that explains every recommended amount.
What is the ThankTap AI Smart Tip Engine?
It is ThankTap's AI recommendation layer. It weighs local tipping convention and currency, luggage load read from a photo by vision AI, the difficulty of a reservation or ticket obtained, property category, the guest's stay budget and the guest's generosity style, then suggests an amount with a confidence score and a breakdown of the factors behind it.
Can the hotel influence the recommended tip?
No. The hotel never controls the recommendation, and recommendations are never influenced by race, gender, age or appearance.
Where is ThankTap available?
ThankTap is opening design-partner pilots with independent luxury and upper-upscale properties in the United States in Fall 2026.
Is my ThankTap balance refundable?
Yes. ThankTap balances never expire and are refundable in full at any time. Funds are held in custodial accounts and are never spent by ThankTap.
