ThankTap privacy policy
This page explains, in plain terms, what data ThankTap collects from guests, hospitality staff and hotel properties, and how ThankTap uses it. This summary applies to the ThankTap website and the ThankTap pilot programme.
Data ThankTap collects
- Guest account data: name, contact details, ThankTap balance and tipping history.
- Payment data: processed by regulated payment providers. ThankTap does not store full card numbers.
- Staff data: hotel-verified profile, role, assigned tag identifier and gratuity records.
- Hotel data: roster, pooling rules and reconciliation records.
- Website data: standard server logs and basic aggregate analytics.
How ThankTap uses data
ThankTap uses this data to move gratuities to the right person, to reconcile and report payouts, to prevent fraud, and to produce recognition summaries for hotels. Guest inputs to the AI Smart Tip Engine — such as a service description or a luggage photo — are used to generate that recommendation.
Staff privacy defaults
Recognition data stays private to the staff member by default and is shared with managers only by hotel policy or with the staff member's consent. ThankTap does not publish tip-ranked scoreboards, and no personal payment handles are exposed to guests.
Fairness in AI recommendations
ThankTap's tip recommendations are never influenced by race, gender, age, appearance or any protected characteristic, and the hotel never controls the recommended number.
Data sharing
ThankTap shares data with payment processors, cloud infrastructure providers and the employing hotel where required to deliver the service. ThankTap does not sell personal data.
